When you visit Esther Bricques Winery to sample wine, it is not just about tasting wine. You are taking in an experience. Our tasting room and gardens become a “home away from home” for anyone who visits. Sample wines in the tasting room or on the patio. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on the patio. Take your glass and stroll through the gardens to catch the shifting light on magnificent views of vineyards and the rugged surroundings. We enjoy hosting visitors almost as much as we love making our wines.
Aside from the fact that this is where we live, this piece of land was an obvious location to grow grapes. Located between the last two towns before the US/Canadian border in North Central Washington State (Tonasket to the south and Oroville to the north), the soil here reflects the remains of the last ice age and all that offers. Great drainage, fantastic sunlight, extended summer days, gentle slopes all stem from this location. Tucked in at the base of Mt. Hull which protects the vines from high winds and provides a massive heat sink, the vineyards benefit from the downdrafts of cool evening air off the mountain and are steeped in the sunlight needed to turn grapes into great wine. While the Okanogan area is already well known for growing fruits such as apples, pears, and cherries, grapes can be added to its list of agricultural successes.
We do everything on-site on our rural location and believe in maintaining sustainable agricultural practices, producing wines that benefit from gentle handling.
